Marginalized….

Marginalized….

“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

Matthew 6:21 NLT

The Joshua Commission Creed was written to describe our faith and legacy as Christian men; and then drive action.

One stanza will likely challenge you today if your eyes are open. “I am called to break down barriers and free others from strongholds. I am a peace maker. My armor is truth, righteousness, grace and humility. I will stand in the gap for my neighbor to defend social justice for the marginalized. I am a kingdom man”.

Reads great right!! So let’s talk about our money. Uugh you just thought, here it goes, I already get beat up to be a generous giver on Sundays.

So how about that homeless person you drive by on the way to church today?  Seriously!  what about the marginalized people we see around us all the time on the way to work? Sure we might offer some spare change occasionally but do we consider – “ those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors Him” Proverbs 14:31.

One part of determining the status of our heart is to look at our attitude towards the poor. Do you respect them and show them kindness?

Take a look in your closet today- what clothes in there do you not wear that someone else would truly appreciate. Btw don’t bother donating the pre-torn jeans you bought to look cool LOL But before you buy something new- think about what you already have that is truly functional.

Traveling and staying in hotels – can you bring home the unused shampoo?

Going to the market – can you pick up an extra toothbrush and wet wipes.

How about grabbing two cups of coffee at the corner cafe and walking outside ask that person their name and where they grew up?

Going to church today think about this – what you do with the poor in your midst declares what you think about God.

“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

Matthew 6:21 NLT
