Beautiful creation

Beautiful creation

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good..”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1, 31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“If” only I get this degree – I will get that job. “If” only I can drive that car, I’m going to be satisfied. “If” I can date/marry that person, I will stop lusting. Seems we all, in some capacity struggle with seeing reality, being thankful and content. We think that achieving “If” it will be a new beginning, commence a new season, open new doors. There is something optimistic and fresh with these visions of the future.
Genesis means “beginning” and God Himself is the new beginning. It starts with a paradise teaming with opportunities and blessings.
God created the universe, the
World, in a majestic display of power and purpose, culminating with man and woman in His likeness. It was and is beautiful beyond our understanding.
Till “If” enters and we sin.
What then occurs in Genesis- God sets the stage for the entire bible and reveals His nature as Creator, Sustainer, Judge and Redeemer.

So far in this season of advent we have given thanks -enabling an attitude of gratitude. We then realized – gratitude is easy, the struggle is being content. We unpacked the depths of our wealth; in living in a state of grace, valuing relationships, our ability to travel, access to knowledge, and unconditional love.

That is where Genesis begins. God created the world and His Desire was and is for us to be people set apart to worship Him.
That paradise and new beginning was shattered by our willful disobedience. We now would need salvation.
John Eldredge writes that now – each of us as men, share common core motivations 1)we desire a battle to fight, 2)an adventure to live, 3) a beauty to rescue.
This week we are going to unpack the beauty all around us as we see with the “eyes of the heart”. Beauty is actually a word we use more than we realize, as we think of women and adventure and see God’s creation. I can only imagine that God see’s beauty in all of His creation and the redemption and cleansing of us through the cross.
Come along and explore the beauty around us of the skies and universe, the seasons of nature, the oceans and seas, the noble women in our lives, and the beauty of time.
