Proverbs 5: God is watching
For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.
A common misconception that we all struggle with from time to time is that our sins are our business. Our decisions only affect us and as long as we don’t get “caught” or have to suffer consequences, then there’s nothing wrong. It’s basic human nature to see what we can get away with.
This is especially true with men. We’re wired differently than women and we fight a constant battle for our integrity. Everywhere you look, we are being bombarded by things that are meant to tempt us and move us away from the things of God. Whether it’s a racy billboard, a sex scene in a movie, or magazine in the grocery store, we are faced with a critical decision. Will we keep advancing and fighting the enemy by living our life with integrity, or will we retreat and let him get the best of us by giving into temptation and our fleshly desires?
Integrity is a decision you make that’s between you and God. Nobody else. One of the definitions of integrity is “the state of being whole and undivided”. When you live your life with integrity, there’s only one version of you. What you see is what you get. The problem that a lot of men face is that we often think that what people can’t see doesn’t really matter, but Proverbs 5:21 shows us that God sees everything and God is the one person we should be living our lives for.
What would happen if we always knew that He is watching? How would we live our lives 24/7? Would God see 2 versions of us or would he always see the real, authentic, man of God he called us to be?
Today’s Training: Take stock of how you live your private life. When you’re by yourself, how do you act? What are some of the thoughts that go through your mind? Does God see multiple versions of you? If integrity is a struggle, I have some really good news! It’s as simple as a decision. You decide that you’re going to live your life one way (God’s way. Just continue to walk in that decision throughout every circumstance you face and God will keep giving you strength.
