Jesus The Truth
John 18-38 NIV
“What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.”
Absolute truth is unalterable facts. The story does not change no matter how you spin it, when you tell it, or how you say it. Yesterday, we began with “The Way” and that the “Only Way” is through Jesus Christ! This builds into “The Truth” that Jesus reveals in John 14:6.
Jesus came to save the world by sacrificing himself for us. We do not deserve his grace, but he loves us and wants us to learn from our mistakes. This is why he did not answer Pilate’s question about having the power to set him free. Jesus already knew his mission and purpose as “The Only Truth” through his death.
Pilate ends up doing something against his character that cannot be aligned to absolute truth. Pilate admits Jesus is innocent 3 times, but does not set him free because of the status quo. Pilate then realizes that his own judgment (or the lack thereof) to do the right thing in front of the Messiah has transpired into guilt and crumbling of his statute of a just governor!
Jesus explains it clearly in the scripture below. The only way and the only truth is to believe in him. There is no half commitment. Jesus knows the truth about us and the day he will come back to call his sheep home. He is the only truth and it is already written for us. He came to destroy satan and his tactics to mirage status, power, greed, and envy over the world to turn those away from God.
Father, I come to worship and exalt you as the only truth. This world makes a mockery of the ones that believe in you and I praise you for saving us through your sacrifice. I admit that my faith in you needs to be stronger and strengthened as I have false truths to deny and correct. I request that you help me put to rest any questionable thought or action that is formed against You and the Word. Please help me to come alongside others and show them who you are and how to receive you, Amen.
John 14:6 NIV
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
