Arts & Entertainment Battlefield Response

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:13-16 ESV

Continuing our Battlefield series, transitioning from intelligence briefs relative to where darkness has entered and has shaped our culture to analyzing the intelligence, re-grouping, and responding to shine the Lord’s light in the darkness bringing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and advancing His Kingdom.

The Arts & Entertainment Battlefield Response:

Arts and entertainment can be very enjoyable to observe, listen to, or watch, however, if that which is being observed or listened to or watched does not honor our Lord and His Word, then, as a part of “preparing our minds for action”, we must take action in the form of a response to reject that which does not honor our Lord.

Nothing in God’s Word says that this will be easy.  The Lord’s path was not easy, and neither is ours.  If that means that we discontinue to support a service that we have paid for and brought into our homes, whether it be music or movies or books or podcasts or social media, we must take action as the Lord leads.

This is one way of responding to the battlefield of arts and entertainment.  Another is just not to tune in or listen to that which does not honor the Lord.  Years ago, I used to regularly listen to a political talk radio show on my long commute from the office to home.  By the time I arrived home, I was all fired up listening to the events of the day, and not in a sober mindset to enter my home.  It was hard, but I knew that I had to make a change on the dial settings of my radio in order to make a change on the settings of my mind.

Once I tuned the radio elsewhere, I began filling my ears with a different message of hope that was brought from an incredible Christian Radio Station that was located high in the mountains to the north of my home. I was given a fresh perspective that brought light to the darkness of the events of the day.  As I recall, the call sign for the station was actually “Radio Shine.”

Daily Battle Order:

As introduced in the 5.3.21 DBO on the Battlefield of Arts and Entertainment, a father in the 11th century had written in a warning to his son, “Ever remain aware of your enemy’s activities, secret or otherwise; never feel secure against his treachery against you, and consider constantly ways in which you may outwit or defeat him.”

Our enemy is constantly looking for ways to deceive us.  As Kingdom Men, we are called to be “sober-minded.”  This includes taking stock of what we allow to come into the gates of our homes, the gates of our eyes, the gates of our hearts, and the gates of our minds.

Our heart posture should be one of obedience to the one who brought us the unmerited favor of grace by taking our place and dying for our sins.  These sins are the “passions of our former ignorance.”  We are no longer ignorant.  We are informed.  Do not be conformed to the arts and entertainment world Kingdom Man.  Victory is found in the conscious act of the mind to not subject yourself to the corruption but to subject yourself to the obedience of Christ Jesus who sets us free from the bondage of sin.

Tomorrow, we’ll focus on the Educational Battlefield Response.
