Family Battlefield Response

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” –1 Tim 5:8

Continuing our Battlefield series, transitioning from intelligence briefs relative to where darkness has entered and has shaped our culture to analyzing the intelligence, re-grouping, and responding to shine the Lord’s light in the darkness bringing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and advancing His Kingdom.

Having learned the importance of the Battlefield of Education from yesterday’s DBO, let us apply those principles to our family on the Family Battlefield.

We cannot control what people say or do. You cannot control your family. The free will God has given to us allows everyone to choose their actions. What God does beyond just giving us free will, is guide and instruct. We must mirror the efforts of our Heavenly Father with those we are responsible for looking after. “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Tim 5:8. Provisions are not just food and drink, roofs, or vehicles. These are material things, easily provided or taken by the Lord. What is substantial is the teaching and instruction of the Lord for a person. With this, we may avoid conflict from wrongdoing.

Though imperfect as we are, we must also understand that we shouldn’t react when wronged but respond accordingly. “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” Matt 18:15. This verse does not declare that they will automatically listen to you. We must continue to meet them where they are. When learning to raise a child, a verse that most parents should be aware of is, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Eph 6:4. This is a hard one for me because it’s difficult to watch the ones I love make mistakes that I think can be avoided. But, I am the first to plead guilty to repeatedly making the same mistakes and wronging God. His response to me is continued patience, unconditional love, and guidance.

Daily Battle Order:

Kingdom Man, your family is a precious thing that you must be equipped to protect and maintain. You cannot react, as our instincts tend to lead to our demise. But, if you can stop at each opportunity for growth and respond how you believe God would handle the situation, you’ve set yourself on the path to righteousness.

Tomorrow, we’ll focus on Response not Reaction.

Kingdom Men: The Joshua Commission invites you to join us for spiritual warfare battlefield training on the Fredericksburg Battlefields; Friday- Sunday, June 25-27 2021.
