“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Last week in one of the Daily Battle Orders, I was struck by this example of the early church; “Imagine your father or mother telling you the wonderful events they saw of Jesus–raising a man from the dead or allowing a blind man to see for the first time. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit and became witnesses “to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8).”
David tells us in Psalm 34 verses 1-2, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear it and be glad.” Did you get that? My soul shall boast in the Lord! As a different way of putting it, “Look what my Dad did for me!” In evangelizing we’re bragging about our Dad! As we evangelize and tell the stories of what our Dad did for us in different situations can you imagine the effect it might have on those who listen? Think of the outcome of our stories, our testimonials to the greatness of God leading to our listeners being filled with the Holy Spirit on the spot and becoming witnesses “to the ends of the earth”!
Our lives are dynamic ! Our testimony is not the same one as when we first came to accept Christ. Our testimony reflects what God is doing in our lives: He saved me in battle, He restored my marriage, provided the new job, helped me close on my house and the list goes on and on.
This week you’re going to hear testimonies about what God has done in the lives of some of the men who write these DBOs. They are going to encompass stories of transformation, life after baptism and the ongoing power of baptism throughout our lives, you’re even going to be viewing our first video DBO!
On Thanksgiving it’s going to be your turn! You’ve celebrated Thanksgiving most of your life; however, this may be the first Thanksgiving where You are going to brag on what your Dad has done for you. It may be around a dinner table with friends or it may be just you and Dad but don’t be concerned who is listening, God loves to hear His children brag on Him. Our wrap up on Saturday, 28 November is one you definitely won’t want to miss!
