Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. I will shake all the nations, and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of hosts. ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ declares the Lord of hosts.”. Haggai 2:6-9
Focusing on the shaking is easy, and shaking naturally demands attention. But shaking is not the Lord’s high point of any journey. The target is to fill the Lord’s house with glory, wealth, and peace. The gold and silver are already The Lord’s. He does not need His sons to ‘give’ Him what is already His. His interest lay in His desire to live with His children.
The Lord consistently speaks of His people being His ‘inner sanctuary’ and how He will dwell in them, as in a home, calling us to ‘maintain a living communion’ with Him and ‘allowing His words to be at home’ within us.
As TJC concentrates on deep change, I recall the many seasons where shaking and turmoil obscured the priority: creating a clean environment within me. It is easy to focus on the negative, forgetting our Fathers’ desire to dwell in/with us. And where He dwells is always Holy, sanctified, and clean.
As I allow the Spirit to rummage through every room in my house, there are moments when I’m tempted to make the shaking the issue! ‘An enemy has done this!’ But as I stop trying to deflect from the Lord’s cleansing…the latter glory of the house begins to fill this house. The glory, not the shaking, is our goal.
Daily Battle Order:
Recognize and acknowledge the shaking, but maintain the focus on the goal. Our ‘home’ is the place for His residence. It is far more important to accentuate His Glory, knowing that the latter will be far better than the former.
