Don’s Prayer Corner

In Memory of Don L. Carlson (1949-2020)

US NAVY (Retired) A.K.A Chief

Aug. 18, 2020 (Don’s Last Morning Prayer)

Gracious Father I hunger after You and Your Word.  Help me to be more of the man you want me to be.  In Jesus Name Amen.

Sept. 22, 2020

Dear Father we are praying for the many many men who today reading our DBO will have a wound opened up that they buried – their own past, or a friend or brother.  So many people in 2020 our lost and feel no sense of hope.  Let us all listen today for that one person who needs to speak and physically go and be present with them.  Amen

Sept. 21, 2020

Lord God, everything you do is for your glory! Your ultimate goal at every stage of your kingdom program is the preservation and display of yourself as the supreme savior, the supreme sovereign, and the satisfier of the world. Ultimately you do this through your messianic representative, Jesus Christ! And we, as kingdom men, Are your representatives in this foreign land. Holy Spirit help us to remember, where we place our foot your kingdom advances.

Sept. 17, 2020

Lord God, You have shown me how the enemy is using this latest fear of the pandemic to separate the flock…my friends who are “hunkering down” as they call it. Isolating themselves for fear. Not going out into the battle. Not participating in life. Not living. I pray that You give me the grace to continue to reach out to them, fellowship with them, even at a distance so the enemy doesn’t cut them out of the pack and devour them. That I may encourage them with life and living and walking on the ancient path. Not being scared or fearful but bold and courageous.  Not for my benefit but for Your glory in Jesus name. Amen and Alleluia!

Sept. 10, 2020

Dear Father – please press into all the men of TJC, stir them to mess the hell out of satans attacks on them through them acting “nevertheless” Amen

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Father thank you for you word uncovering satans plans where he celebrates us feeling failure or defeat when we feel like quitting.  Quitting that diet, that workout plan, that budget, that class, that marriage, those dreams.

Peter had quit fishing with no success, but he responds “nevertheless” and totally messes hell’s plans with just one word.

Don didn’t use that word, but it was his spirit to get back up, continue the fight. As all of TJC no matter what we are feeling weary of, defeated by, want to medicate- we say “nevertheless”. When we follow with that spirit and obedience we can’t fail,  we have nothing to lose, our integrity will be rock solid, you can’t be bought, you’ll have Gods vision

Sept. 9, 2020

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:11-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Dear Father, thank you for your words that clarify and keep us focused. As TJC help us to stay on point, in our DBOs and in our lives!  Amen

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

“For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not of yourselves, for it is a gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

“But the Lord said: ‘If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you may say to this mulberry tree,”Be uprooted, and be transplanted into the sea.” And it would obey you.'” (Luke 17:6)

“For faith is the beginning and the end is love, and God is the two of them brought into unity. After these comes whatever else makes up a Christian gentleman.” -St. Ignatius of Antioch

“Faith means battles; if there are no contests, it is because there are none who desire to contend.” -St. Ambrose

“Faith does not quench desire, but inflames it.” -St. Thomas Aquinas

“A faint faith is better than a strong heresy.” -St. Thomas More

“It is not the actual physical exertion that counts toward a man’s progress, nor the nature of the task, but the spirit of faith with which it is undertaken.” -St. Francis Xavier

“Fruit of Faithfulness: Our faith is a free assent to the whole truth that God has revealed. We have faith only if we believe in Christ’s entire public revelation. The Christian faith is faith that Christ instituted a divine institution, a Church blessed with authority to infallibly teach his public revelation. If we accept only doctrines consistent with our own experience we are not accepting them on faith but rather on human analysis.”

Sept. 2, 2020

Dear God, I know the following applies to me, and doing ministry together – it applies to ALL the men of TJC – everyone of them !!  Please let us knowingly embrace the fruit of your spirit and specifically patience – at least today. Amen

“And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” (1 Thessalonians 5:14)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.” (Colossians 1:11)

“My brothers, when you have fallen into various trials, consider everything a joy, knowing that the proving of your faith exercises patience, and patience brings a work to perfection, so that you may be perfect and whole, deficient in nothing.” (James 1:2-4)

“Patience is the companion of wisdom.” -St. Augustine

“Patience is the root and guardian of all the virtues.” -Pope St. Gregory I

“The virtue of patience is the one which most assures us of perfection.” -St. Francis de Sales

“If there be a true way that leads to the Everlasting Kingdom, it is most certainly that of suffering, patiently endured.” -St. Colette

Fruit of Patience: A form of the moral virtue of fortitude. It enables one to endure present evils without sadness or resentment in conformity with the will of God. Patience is mainly concerned with bearing the evils caused by another. The three grades of patience are:

Lowest: to bear difficulties without interior complaint,

Middle: to use hardships to make progress in virtue,

Highest: to desire the cross and afflictions for Christ’s love, to have something to offer up, and to accept them with spiritual joy.

“The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11)

“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” (Psalm 37:11)

“My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” (Proverbs 3:1-2)

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

“But above all preserve peace of heart. This is more valuable than any treasure. In order to preserve it there is nothing more useful than renouncing your own will and substituting for it the will of the divine heart. In this way his will can carry out for us whatever contributes to his glory, and we will be happy to be his subjects and to trust entirely in him.” -St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

“Who except God can give you peace? Has the world ever been able to satisfy the heart?” -St. Gerard Majella

“Peace is better than a fortune.” -St. Francis de Sales

Fruit of Peace: the tranquility of order. Peace is first of all the absence of conflict. But it is also the serenity experienced because there is no conflict. It is the calm that accompanies agreement of human wills, and is the foundation of every well-ordered society.

Father, far too often I see the things you give to me, and fail to see you the gift giver.  Yes thank you for all you do in our lives, but as our good father thank you for simply sharing your self and allowing us to be with you.  Today let me see and be with you, and not focus on the gifts but you the giver.  Amen

Aug. 29, 2020

Dear Father – I ask that you watch over my heart and give me peace and clarity. I ask that you take away this overwhelming feeling I’m having this past week. I need to guide my steps towards you and not overwhelm myself with to much things to lose my focus on what you want me to do. I have been reading and writing to you but I am not retaining some of your word because I am doing to much. I ask that you give me guidance on what to truly focus on instead of overloading myself with too much.

Father please watch over these gentlemen around me. I feel their pain and hurt and longing for your love. I ask that you put a healing hand on their hearts and a path for them to find you on. We are all struggling in some area of our lives, but know through you anything is possible. I ask that you watch over their families and surround them with your wall of fire and angels. Keep out the enemy that tries to deter them from your true path. Thank you for loving us even though we do not deserve it.

In Jesus Name AMEN!!

Aug. 29, 2020

Dear Father – place a burden and pain in our hearts when we do anything to compromise the covenant we have with You.

Aug. 28, 2020

We try to surrender and fail at it daily. Help us, as Kingdom Men to stay in your “ sweet  spot”  in your heart and in our walk. AmenJust as you used to be slaves to all kinds of sin, so now you must let yourselves be slaves to all that is right and holy.
—Romans 6:19 (TLB)

We have heard the modern expression, “Don’t fight it—it’s bigger than both of us.” Those who are meek do not fight back at life. They learn the secret of surrender, or yielding to God. He then fights for us! Instead of filling your mind with resentments, abusing your body by sinful diversion, and damaging your soul by willfulness, humbly give all over to God. Your conflicts will disappear and your inner tensions will vanish into thin air. Then your life will begin to count for something. You will have the feeling of belonging to life. Boredom will melt away, and you will become vibrant with hope and expectation. Because you are meekly yielded, you will begin to “inherit the earth” of good things, which God holds in store for all who trust Him with their all.

Prayer for the day

Let me yield to You this day, Father, all my innermost thoughts. I cannot hide from You.

Billy Graham

Aug. 27, 2020

Dear Father, I pray to be different, I pray that my TJC brothers are different;  our difference being joy in you.And the disciples were called Christians . Acts 11:26In the third century Cyprian, the Bishop of Carthage, wrote to his friend Donatus, “It is a bad world, Donatus, an incredibly bad world. But I have discovered in the midst of it a quiet and holy people, who have learned a great secret. They have found a joy which is a thousand times better than any of the pleasures of our sinful life. They are despised and persecuted, but they care not. They are masters of their souls. They have overcome the world. These people, Donatus, are Christians . . . and I am one of them.” If you have repented of your sins and have received Christ as Savior, then you, too, are one of them.Prayer for the day.

Today, Lord God, I remember all those Christians who have gone before me and thank You for the inspiration of their memory. May I never take for granted the heritage I have in Christ Jesus.

The PURITY of marriage (between man and woman) by Billy GrahamWhatsoever things are pure . . . think on these things. Philippians 4:8Nowhere does the Bible teach that sex in itself is a sin. Man in his sinful nature has taken what was intended to be a glorious and complete act of love between two people and has made it something low, cheap, and dirty. The Bible is one of the world’s outspoken books on the subject of sex, and the Bible condemns sex outside the bonds of matrimony. The fact that immorality is rampant throughout the nation doesn’t make it right; the fact that some clergymen may condone it doesn’t make it right. The Bible says, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 16:25). Under Jewish law adultery was punishable by death. Under God’s law today it also results in spiritual death.

Prayer for the day
All around me, breaking Your laws is made so enticing, Father. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4)

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, ‘Abba, Father.'” (Romans 8:15)

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)”For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)

“The principal act of courage is to endure and withstand dangers doggedly rather than to attack them” -St. Thomas Aquinas

The Gift of Fortitude: One of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit; it gives a person a special strength of will. This gift confers an extraordinary readiness to undergo trials for love of God or in fulfillment of the divine will; unusual courage to bear difficulties even for many years; firmness in carrying arduous tasks to their completion; perseverance in a lifetime fidelity to one’s vocation in spite of heavy trials or disappointments sent by God; and gladness in being privileged to suffer persecution or humiliation in union with Christ and for the sake of his name.

Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit and all the gifts you provide us.  I ask that you clearly show every man in TJC the trial, task, even disappointment and humiliation from you to increase our strength of will. Amen

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭
NIV‬‬ HEROES’ WORDS “Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore seek not to understand that thou mayest believe, but believe that thou mayest understand.” -St. Augustine”Understanding is the sure and clear knowledge of some invisible thing.” -St. Bernard
“Thus understanding and love, that is, the knowledge of and delight in the truth, are, as it were, the two arms of the soul, with which it embraces and comprehends with all the saints the length and breath, the height and depth, that is the eternity, the love, the goodness, and the wisdom of God.” -St. BernardMEDITATION

The Gift of Understanding: The infused gift of the Holy Spirit given to the mind for grasping revealed truths easily and profoundly. It differs from faith because it gives insight into the meaning of what a person believes, whereas faith, as such, merely assents to what God has revealed. This gift produces three principal effects in those who possess it. They are enabled to penetrate to the very core of revealed truths, without ever fully understanding their meaning; they are confirmed in their belief by acquiring great certitude in the revealed word of God; and they are brought to the knowledge of a greater number of truths by drawing numerous conclusions from revealed principles.

Dear Father open the eyes of our heart so that we may see you, discern and obey your voice and draw deeper into your extravagant love, Amen

Aug. 17, 2020 (Don)

Most gracious Father i submit my prayers for this team of men ready, willing and able to carry Your Shield into battle.  We Father are just men so we enter praise and request for healing and for help in our daily lives.  A prayer for Tom as he was  unable to purchase a home as he is a recent 1099 employee and needs 2 years of income reflected, so we pray for comfort.  Praise from Kenan, as Angela had a better report than previously expected. Brandon Soares thanking everyone for their donation to him to help him cover his bills. He also sent and email to his supervisor who in turn sent it along to his supervisor alerting him to the unpaid leave due to COVID-19 infections. This resulted in the supervisor issuing back payment retroactive and paid immediately. Brandon continues to seek a new job anyway. Brandon also reports and praise for a healthy new grandson born this past week. Mike is getting closer to having the dramas at his job wrapped up soon. Norm experienced continued victory from those things confessed as he was on the road all week and did not go back to those habits. Brandon Clement’s unfavorable file was destroyed and eliminated by his CO.  Father God we are mere men, but Father these men stand tall and resolute in victory for You and Your Kingdom.  I pray for a special blessing on these men and their families.  In Jesus Name Amen.

Aug. 17, 2020 (Don)

Dear God troubling times, we face pressures from all sides.  Grant to us Your Peace so we may continue in the fight for Your Name to be above all names each moment of every day.  Give me Father whatever it is I need to keep my mouth shut when and where required and speak only Your Truth when there is an opening and not in anger.  Dear God I fail You daily yet You accept me back Home with open arms.  Help me Father to be the Elder to and for this group You want and expect me to be.  In Jesus Name Amen.

July 28, 2020

God thank you for this day. Thank you for opening our eyes and hearts. Show us where we are to GO, and there soak, be present, and pray over and with all present.   We claim in your name where you lead us.  You had Joshua cross the Jordan into the promised land. You had that generation put up a stone altar for what you would do.  Make us uncomfortable in our home, make us uncomfortable in our car, let your voice pull us into “that neighborhood”.

It’s good for us to sit in your word each morning, but as your sons we know that we must go into the parts of the Kingdom you have assigned to each of us.  We will build new prayer altars where you take each of us. In your Holy name, the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit we move out strong and courageous. Amen

July 30, 2020

Dear Lord, as I sat with you this morning and considered my ways and I considered that I was not seeking your Kingdom with all of my heart, all of my soul, and all of my body; please forgive me for my complacency, my ignoring Your Kingdom and I pray Holy Spirit that You would help me to be bold and very courageous to seek Your Kingdom today with all that is in me. In Jesus name I pray AMEN!!

July 30, 2020

Dear Father, so often we are challenged by others with “where is your God? amidst disease and chaos”. Let us be bold and respond that this darkness and evil proves the devil exists, and therefore we know there is a God.  Terrorism (foreign and increasingly domestic), human trafficking, abortion, institutional abuses, modern day slavery – there is so much darkness that is from our enemy.

Our faith in you gives us hearts that will lead people out of darkness and into the light, from hate to love.  We really can make a difference through your power and love.  Embolden us to take many risks leading others to the light.
Thank you father.
