“The Arts & Entertainment Battlefield”

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:13-16 ESV

Last week we began providing intelligence briefs on where darkness has entered and shapes our culture.  These briefs included situational reports on the battlefields of media, government/politics, business, and religion.  This week we will focus on the battlefields of arts and entertainment, education, and family.  We will then focus on how to respond and what can we do as Kingdom Men.

The Arts & Entertainment Battlefield Intelligence Briefing:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annually presents awards to recognize cinematic achievements.  These Academy Awards of Merit, also known as the Oscars, are regarded as the most prestigious awards in the arts and entertainment industry.  The latest awards were recently given on April 25th, 2021.

The winners are given a copy of a golden colored statuette that depicts a knight.

A brief watch of the Academy Awards this year quickly revealed that the standards of the knight whose likeness is used as the award given for excellence are not being upheld.  Much of the arts and entertainment that is celebrated would have made a knight sick to his stomach.

A knight was called to serve his king as a mounted soldier in armor.  He was expected to protect those of lesser rank than himself and to hold himself to the highest standards of combat and knowledge in religion, writing, music, and leadership.  His code of conduct was literally called Chivalry.

Daily Battle Order:

Much of what is called arts and entertainment does not honor Godly values.  Much is definitely not considered chivalrous.  Much is out right blasphemous.

In the 11th century, a father who as a prince ruled over a significant area of land, wrote to his son on princely conduct and aspects of life as a man.  He warned his son regarding enemies, stating “Ever remain aware of your enemy’s activities, secret or otherwise; never feel secure against his treachery against you, and consider constantly ways in which you may outwit or defeat him.”

Our enemy is constantly looking for ways to deceive us.  As Kingdom Men, we are called to be “sober-minded.”  This includes taking stock of what we allow to come into the gates of our homes, the gates of our eyes, the gates of our hearts, and the gates of our minds.  Our heart posture should be one of obedience to the one who brought us the unmerited favor of grace by taking our place and dying for our sins.  These sins are the “passions of our former ignorance.”  We are no longer ignorant.  We are informed.  Do not be conformed to the arts and entertainment world Kingdom Man.  Victory is found in the conscious act of the mind to not subject yourself to the corruption but to subject yourself to the obedience of Christ Jesus who sets us free from the bondage of sin.

Tomorrow, we’ll focus on how to have victory on the educational culture battlefield.
