He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. John 8:23
….my kingdom is from another place. John 18:36
But He (Jesus), knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.
Division is nothing new in this world and nothing new in our country. The Revolutionary War and more dramatically The Civil War attested to this division. At TJC’s Battlefield Trainings, these words hit home from our Gettysburg training. Consider this excerpt from “The Gettysburg Address… It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion that we here highly resolve these dead shall not have died in vain;
Stepping up and taking action is an act of supreme courage and we have seen that too in the history of our country. Do we have issues currently offering deep divisions in our country? YES. Are we willing to hang together as Benjamin Franklin was quoted or will hang separately?
One of my brothers in TJC told me, “ When I traveled away from the United States, I realized that we Americans are one people. In foreign countries, we can’t hide our unique American identity. Foreigners recognize the way we sit, our nonverbal cues, and our gregarious confidence. “
I thought about his statement and then I thought about our Kingdom as Believers.
Just as we can’t hide who we are as Americans, we really cannot hide who we are as Believers in Jesus Christ. Our Supreme act of courage now is to lead by our repentance and give testimony as God Himself heals our land, our divisions and restores what we have allowed the enemy to steal from us.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:20-21
We cannot allow a divided house to be a divided nation any longer. We must take actions to fulfill a mandate from another president; that “we here highly resolve these dead shall not have died in vain”. Or to put it another way, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Daily Battle Order:
I am a Kingdom Man. I am called to break down barriers and free others from strongholds. I am a Peacemaker. My armor is Truth, Righteousness, Grace and Humility. I will stand in the gap for my neighbor and defend social justice for the marginalized. TJC Creed excerpt
