Weapons of War: The Word of God

via TJC

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

“This is my holy weapon. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My holy weapon is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my holy weapon is useless. Without my holy weapon, I am useless. I must fire my holy weapon true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will …”

As you have read the last few week – you are a Kingdom Man, but are living in enemy occupied land.  As a Kingdom man you must become a resistance fighter and will need Holy Weapons.

This week we focus on the holy weapons you must master to keep your heart, soul and mind aligned to obey our commander, our father

I wanted to just live a Christian life, but ended up being reminded that the world does not necessarily welcome Christians and I can’t beat the devil on my own. I’ve always known through the whispering of the Holy Spirit that more occurs than meets the eye, but when I read the Word of God in his Holy Bible, I learned that behind the veil of the world is the unseen and the laws the unseen: God’s laws.

The Word of God is my holy weapon.

I tried to live my Christian life in peace but there isn’t always peace. The  evil one prowls and seeks to devour and consume me. 1 Peter 5:8. I cannot escape this battle because the battlefield is my mind. I saw it in my own anger and the anger of others…the kind that burns up conscience like a flash of hot water in a pan. I noticed it in the strange humor poking fun of Christians in in television and social media turning us into caricatures or denying us our personhood as unique individuals following Jesus Christ. I saw it in my sins and sin in general… the consuming nature of giving in to sin and “hoping for the best” all the while knowing what you are doing.

No matter what sin issues you or I deal with, all roads lead you and I to the same place: the sure knowledge that we are required to resist the evil one and all his ways that seek to consume or devour. That is my mandate: I am a resistance fighter. James 4:7.

I am not without weapons in this world. My most potent weapon is the Word of God. When I am lonely. When I despair. When I have sinned. When I am afraid — I speak out loud the Word of God. The Bible contains the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word, the divine formula or “logos”. John 1:1. Read the word out loud with me. Try it today. Let’s do that every day. Speak God’s Word into the air and see what happens – especially the name of the Lord: Jesus Christ.

Here is the promise I claim today: Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13.  In your darkest moments, remember this and it will light your way. He knows your name and he answers to his.

Daily Battle Order: This very day speak the Word of God into the air. Speak 2 Timothy 3 out loud.

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
