What is in our King’s Realm

via TJC

“And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” (Rev 5:10)

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Phil 3:20)

What is included in our King’s realm? Ultimately, all of Creation belongs to the Lord. “Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.” (Psalm 139:12). As royalty, serving under the King of kings, that dominion can extend to our realm, which includes our own family and anything we steward: time, talent, efforts, treasure trusted to us by others, church, nature, etc.

For this Kingdom man, I have been practicing/learning kingdom living for a number of years. Though working in tremendous chaos recently at work, through prayer & grace, home has been relatively peaceful. Visitors to the home (though fewer with Covid) have noted a peaceful and loving vibe..

On earth we belong to a nation and adopt the culture and customs to where we belong. You also belong to a spiritual kingdom (whether you like it or not) for which there is a deep contrast. At birth, each of us was also born into the kingdom of this world, which Satan currently rules. Satan enslaves his captives, pulling each deeper and deeper into darkness and ultimate destruction with each sin (Rom 6:16). That is, unless freed from captivity by Jesus (Eph 2:1-4).

When released from captivity, we are reborn, adopted into God’s family with our citizenship is now in heaven (Eph 2:19). But more than mere citizens, with God our Father as King of all, we are also royalty, and called to reign as kings (Rev 5:10). To learn how to reign well as a king while here on earth, look to yesterday’s DBO including examples from the Old Testament.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matt 6:33)

Daily Battle Order: What did you first think of as included in our King’s realm? Is what you thought of under control within your area of influence? This question probes deeper than “HOW you are reigning?” to ask “WHAT has God called you to reign over, that is not currently under God’s and your control?” Talk it over with a close friend.
