“After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!’ ” Mark 9: 2-9 (NIV)
As Kingdom Men most of us have had our version of a mountain top experience (a retreat or hopefully a TJC battlefield training); where we have experienced the presence of God and power of the Holy Spirit. We can’t wait to share with family and friends the peaceful power and love that poured into our lives. We come back with the greatest intentions.
We also come back with a big glowing bullseye on our chest, that Satan wants to see extinguished. He doesn’t need to take you out, all he has to know is get you busy. We are soon back into our routine and those great intentions are lost like lines in a journal that is never opened.
As Kingdom Men we are in a continued transfiguration process, our sanctification, as we strive to reflect Christ in all facets of our life. That requires exceptional intentionality, not just a soon forgotten New Year’s Resolution based on will power. Here is the secret – YOU CAN’T DO IT ALONE! This takes Kingdom power.
YOU HAVE GOT TO GET CONNECTED WITH OTHER KINGDOM MEN. Yes your wife may be your best friend, but you need men at your round table. You need younger men, older men, wiser men, ones that need what you have to share. Think of the book of ACTs – as men we need one another
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE IN A COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS. You need to celebrate, worship and extend deeper into community – it’s called church. And we are not talking about a building with a steeple, it might have one, but we are talking about you with family, friends and pastors that lead you as their flock.
YOU NEED TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT THE WORD. For TJC we encourage men to pursue the Every Man a Warrior (EMAW) curriculum and learn how to use the word for every facet of your life. EMAW is done in small groups of men, so it’s not reading a book but building wisdom as you walk it out together.
BUILD DISCIPLES. You are a Kingdom Man and it’s your responsibility to lead others, build your legacy. Growing men to be like you in pursuing Christlikeness.
This week we unpack the power steps this week.
For those of you who trained with us recently in Chickamauga you will be receiving a follow up email with specifics for doing the above with your TJC brothers.
Daily Battle Order: Go get some sunglasses to pass out as those in your realm are going to need them as they start to encounter the dazzling power of Christ bursting forth from you.
